A stray cat entertained students by leading them on a trail in China.

Footage by Ms Diao shows the playful white feline accompanying the schoolgirls on their walk in Lintong, Xian, Shaanxi, on November 18, around 10 pm.

The cat darts into bushes, hides beneath cars, and later climbs a tree.

Ms Diao said: 'That night, on our way back to the dorm with my roommate, we met her. She came over and rubbed against us, so we decided to see if she would follow us back to school.

'Not only did she follow us, but she also excitedly performed by climbing a tree. The more we praised her, the more excited she got.

'She's really well-behaved and very affectionate.'

She added that she had encountered the friendly feline before, and on one occasion, it even jumped into her arms.
