Liberals protested in Florida against President Donald Trump and 'special government employee' Elon Musk, voicing opposition to the duo's new policies.

More than 300 activists filled the downtown sidewalks of Gainesville on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 17.

Footage by Anthony Ray shows protesters occupying all four corners of the busy intersection at University Avenue and Main Street, holding signs and chanting their discontent with the current political landscape.

The demonstration, though supported by groups like Gainesville Women for Democracy, was largely grassroots, with many attendees learning about it through word of mouth and social media.

The event was promoted as the 'Not My President' Protest for Democracy, rallying around the slogan 'We the people, not we the billionaires'.

Activists also slammed 'First Buddy' Elon Musk, who was appointed to co-lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after supporting President Donald Trump's candidacy.

DOGE is working to reduce what it considers wasteful federal spending.

Similar protests were held throughout the country and are driven by the '50501' movement, which stands for 50 states, 50 protests, and one unified cause.
