SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): ZHOU PEI, NPC deputy & Deputy director of a labor service company
"In recent years, I have been focusing on transformation for migrant workers. My suggestion last year centered on improving their skills and cultivating a new generation of skilled construction workers."

Starting out as a carpenter in north China's Hebei Province, Zhou contributed to various major construction projects. Exceptional work earned Zhou honors including a May 1 Labor Medal -- a top honor for China's working class.

In 2023, he was elected as a deputy to China's 14th National People's Congress.

As both a worker and a national lawmaker, Zhou is deeply committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of migrant laborers.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): ZHOU PEI, NPC deputy & Deputy director of a labor service company
"This year, my suggestion is to incorporate traditional culture education into migrant worker training programs. Our country has a long-standing tradition of respecting and promoting craftsmanship, and we should draw inspiration from this tradition to perfect our techniques. Through this suggestion, I hope to encourage a cultural and ideological transformation among migrant workers, which contributes to the high-quality development of China's construction industry."
