An excited pet duck squeaked when it saw its owner arrive at home.

The white bird named Duckin woke up without its caretaker, Tawnote, 32, who left early for work in Yala province, Thailand, on February 13.

But the fowl's mood livened up when Tawnote later that day with the adorable duo greeting each other.

Footage shows Duckin squeaking and waddling towards Tawnote, who sat on the floor so their faces were closer.

The bird continued to make the sounds, seemingly announcing the homecoming of his favourite human.

Duckin's owner said: 'Our duck treats him like his own father. It would not stop making excited sounds when he comes home.'

Ducks are intelligent and social birds. They can recognise faces, solve simple problems, and even communicate with different sounds. Their ability to migrate long distances shows their strong memory and navigation skills.
