This is the shocking moment scantily clad tourists were seen twerking in the back of a bus in Thailand.

The bikini-wearing backpackers sparked outrage as they shook their backsides in front of passing drivers on the bustling holiday island of Phuket on February 19.

Footage shows the rowdy visitors - a man and three women - howling and blasting music from LED-lit speakers as their red bus navigated traffic in the Patong area famous for its adult nightlife.

One of the women was on the back of the bus, bent over as she twerked to the loud beats in a pink thong. She then entered the bus to continue dancing with the other passengers.

Thai driver Khun Ple who recorded the incident said: 'I was driving from Kata Beach to the Patong area when she saw the women who were all wearing bikinis.

'One of them stood up and danced at the rear of the bus, twerking while the vehicle was still moving. I tried to warn them to sit inside because it's dangerous, but they refused to listen to me.'

Phuket has become one of Asia's most popular tourist destinations, but it has also attracted criminals and rowdy holidaymakers. Many come from Russia - dodging the draft for a life in the sun.

Furious locals have been blaming the Thai government's free visa policy for the influx of 'low-quality tourists' in the country. The scheme was implemented to boost income from Thailand's tourism industry.

According to Thai laws, the tourists can face charges for violating Section 388 of the Criminal Code on public obscenity, which carries a fine of up to 500 baht.

There have been several incidents involving foreigners being found naked in various areas of Phuket.

On March 5, an Italian man was discovered lying naked on the floor in front of a Buddha statue in the sermon hall of a temple.

On June 6, a British man, Philip Raymond North, a 32-year-old from Liverpool, was sunbathing naked and sipping tea outside a convenience store near a school.

On August 21, a foreigner was seen standing naked inside a cannabis shop, proudly displaying his genitals.

On September 8, a male tourist sparked outrage when he was found scratching his genitals on the second-floor balcony of a hotel.

While on December 7, dazed man shocked onlookers when he strolled past tables and sat without any clothes at a brightly lit restaurant patio next to a busy road.
