A retired Airbus plane blocked a highway while it was being transported in China.

The decommissioned Airbus 330-220 that was being moved to Sunrise Dongjiang Camping Base caused heavy traffic near Tianjin Binhai International Airport in Tianjin on February 18.

Footage shows the out-of-service aircraft aboard a flatbed truck being manoeuvred out of the airport, jamming the motorway as it U-turns.

Local media reported that the Airbus A330-200, a double-aisle wide fuselage passenger aircraft with 246 standard seats, a wingspan of 198 ft (60 m), and a total length of 193 ft (58.82 m), will be upgraded to a multi-functional tourism experience complex integrating simulated driving experience, aviation knowledge popularization, catering, and entertainment.

The Bureau of Culture and Tourism said: 'The renovated plane will not only allow tourists to get close to aviation culture but also help the tourism industry in Dongjiang.'

The Tianjin Port Branch traffic police detachment, Huisheng Wharf, cultural tourism group, and other units reportedly took 23 days to plan the safe transportation of the Airbus to Dongjiang.
