Bakersfield, United States - February 18, 2025 02/18/2025 09:29 am (GMT-0800) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – At approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Kern County Fire Department dispatched for reports of a multiple train car derailment involving possible hazardous materials east of Bakersfield on Caliente Bodfish Road, two miles north of Highway 58 in Caliente. According to the KCFD, responding firefighters requested the Hazmat Team to assist. A total of 15 railcars, including tankers, were confirmed to be off the tracks. Firefighters assessed the damage and found no apparent leaks or victims resulting from the derailment. A Union Pacific Railroad representative confirmed that all affected tank cars were empty and posed no hazard, according to the KCFD incident report. The emergency response was canceled, and the incident was handed over to Union Pacific Railroad, reported the KCFD.
