US, Los Angeles: Apple Valley Vegetation Fire Breaks Out in Mojave Narrows River Bottom
Los Angeles, United States - February 20, 2025 02/20/2025 06:09 pm (GMT-0800) APPLE VALLEY, Calif. – On Thursday at approximately 6:09 p.m., multiple reports were made stating a large fire was burning near homes at the river bottom of the Mojave Narrows Regional Park located in the city of Victorville. Multiple agencies, including Cal Fire, Bureau of Land Management, San Bernardino County Fire, Victorville Fire Department, and the Apple Valley Fire Protection District quickly responded to the scene and located the fire on the east side of the park, on the “Apple Valley Side” near Riverside Drive. After locating the blaze, fire crews deemed the incident the “River Fire," having to use residents' yards located on Riverside Drive to gain access to the fire. The fire was burning in heavy brush, with a slow rate of spread, which allowed firefighters to quickly contain and hold the fire to approximately 2-3 acres with an unconfirmed two structures destroyed. Unfortunately, one of the homeowners, who did not wish to speak on camera, claimed they had a large two-story barn with multiple boats and equipment destroyed in the fire, along with an amphitheater, which was also burned in this incident. Both can be seen in this footage. At this time, there is no clear cause of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. The incident is under investigation by the Apple Valley Fire Protection District.
