Los Angeles, United States - February 21, 2025 02/21/2025 08:15 pm (GMT-0800) NORTH HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Divison officers responded to reports of a shooting with a victim down in the parking lot of The Home Depot located at 11600 Sherman Way. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a male Hispanic, possibly in his mid-20s, down on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers rendered aid until the fire department personnel arrived, said Warner Castillo, Captain III LAPD Commanding Officer at North Hollywood Division, who spoke on camera to news media at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased. He has not been identified at this time. It was later learned that in addition to being shot, the victim was run over by an uninvolved party in a truck. According to Castillo, it appears the driver was unaware that he ran over anyone or anything because he parked and then went shopping. Initial investigation at the scene indicates that two males were arguing in the parking lot of Home Depot. One of the males started chasing the victim and shot him in the head, according to Castillo. The victim fell to the ground, and the suspect is still outstanding. Castillo said the community's help is needed. At the time of the incident, many witnesses were in the parking lot or shopping, but by the time officers arrived, the potential witnesses were gone. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact detectives at the LAPD Operations Valley Bureau at (818) 644-8080, or submit an anonymous tip at lacrimestoppers.org. The LAPD can also be contacted through their website at lapdonline.org. SOT with Warner Castillo, Captain III LAPD Commanding Officer at North Hollywood Division.
