SOUNDBITE (Chinese): JOE HO, Young entrepreneur from Macao
"In the past, traveling from Dongguan (in Guangdong) to Macao took at least three hours. But with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the journey now takes less than two hours. It's very convenient for me.
I'm Joe Ho, born and raised in Macao, with ancestral roots in Humen, Dongguan. After graduating from University College London a few years ago, I decided to return to the Greater Bay Area and develop my career in Dongguan. My weekly schedule follows a "5+2" model, meaning five days in Dongguan and two days in Macao.
Macao and Dongguan may not be close geographically, but they are similar in essence and share much in common. Both cities are vibrant with dynamic economies, bustling ports, and plenty of delicious foods.
Dongguan is transitioning from traditional manufacturing to intelligent manufacturing, creating many opportunities for start-ups. So we established an industrial park, focusing on technology innovation and intelligent manufacturing. We want to provide high-tech enterprises in Dongguan with the manufacturing space they need, supporting their growth and development."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Dongguan, China.
