STORYLINE:

The port of Valencia, one of the Mediterranean's most significant maritime hubs, has recorded a significant rise in trade with China at the start of 2025.

The port handled 736,692 tonnes of traded goods with China in January, according to a report from the Port Authority of Valencia. That's a 43.48 percent year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The report said that container traffic, the primary segment linking the two destinations, surged by 53.19 percent to 67,475 TEUs of cargo.

According to the Port Authority of Valencia, the main goods exported to China include foodstuffs, automobiles, wines, and beverages, and the imported are machinery, tools and construction materials.
