Gaza strip - Recent The Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 48,329, according to a statement released by Gaza-based health authorities on Saturday. The number of injuries has climbed to 111,753, with a number of victims still trapped beneath the rubble, according to the statement. A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is under way which has brought a temporary halt to the fighting in Gaza. Under the terms of the ongoing three-phase ceasefire agreement, effective since Jan 19, Hamas on Saturday released six living hostages in exchange for hundreds more Palestinians detained by Israel. However, the Israeli government has postponed the release of 602 Palestinian prisoners agreed as part of the latest hostage-prisoner swap, Palestinian and Israeli sources said on Saturday evening.
