STORYLINE:

Arab Parliament speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi announced on Saturday that the heads of Arab parliaments and councils have adopted a "parliamentary document" to be submitted to the emergency Arab summit scheduled in Egypt next month. The document expresses support for the steadfast resolve of the Palestinian people to remain on their land in rejection of displacement and annexation plans.

This announcement came in a speech by Al-Yamahi before the 7th Arab Parliament Conference for the Presidents of Arab Parliaments and Councils. The conference commenced on Saturday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and is being organized in cooperation and coordination with the Arab Parliamentary Union. The conference aims to enhance the role of Arab parliamentary diplomacy in serving the interests of Arab peoples.

Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament's full support for Egypt's efforts to prepare a comprehensive vision for reconstructing the Gaza Strip in a way that guarantees the Palestinian people's firm right to peacefully remain on their land.

"These plans represent a blatant violation of the fixed and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, which have been recognized by the entire world, and they also represent an unacceptable violation of the policy of Arab countries that have sacrificed everything precious and dear for the sake of the Palestinian cause."

The session concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Arab Parliament and the Arab Parliamentary Union. This move was aimed at strengthening joint Arab action and coordination on regional and international issues.

The agreement reflects intensified official cooperation efforts amid major challenges facing the Arab world.
