Pilots battle to land at Birmingham Airport during 50mph crosswinds as the UK is hit by weather warnings
Pilots approaching Birmingham's International Airport battled to keep their aircraft on safe approach as strong winds buffetted them from side-to-side.
Propeller planes from aerLingus flying from both Dublin and Belfast endured a rocky landing, with the Dublin flight thrown back up into the air before the skilled pilots brought it back under control to make a safe, but wobbly, touchdown on Sunday 23 February.
Other larger passenjer jets also found it difficult, with flights from Turkish Airlines and Tui also affected.
Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul was rocked in the air as wind sheer hit the plane seconds from touching down and Tui flight from Touloise had similar problems as the fuselage dipped and rose in the air before a bonucy landing.
Strong wind and heavy rain have hit most western parts of the UK on Sunday as the Met Office released both yellow and amber weather warnings..
