Brussels, Belgium - February 23, 2025 Former European Parliament Vice President Boguslaw Liberadzki has urged Europe to reassess its reliance on U.S. foreign policy and assert greater strategic autonomy, particularly regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In an interview with China Media Group (CMG), Liberadzki criticized the exclusion of European nations from the recent U.S.-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia aimed at ending the three-year-long conflict in Ukraine. In his view, three crucial efforts are necessary as the world seeks to bring a lasting end to the conflict. Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted European and non-European partners twice to coordinate a common stance on Ukraine. Both meetings concluded with a unified position that any peace talks should include both Ukraine and Europe. Liberadzki pointed to these meetings, along with other recent diplomatic efforts, as evidence of growing European self-confidence and a commitment to unity.
