A bridge collapsed in Korea this morning killing at least three construction workers and injuring seven others.

Dashcam footage shows the structure as it suddenly gave way and plummeted to the ground shortly before 9:50 am near the city of Cheonan, some 50 miles south of Seoul.

Officials said the bridge was being built to connect sections of the Seoul-Sejong Expressway. Five steel beams supporting the bridge, each about 164ft long, collapsed one after another, local media reported.

The South Chungcheong Disaster and Safety Management Office said they received a 119 emergency call reporting the incident at 9:50 am.

Officials at the National Fire Agency issued a nationwide fire mobilisation order to deploy firefighters and equipment from Gyeonggi Province, North Chungcheong Province, the 119 Special Rescue Team, and the 119 Chemical Rescue Center.

They said that rescue operations are ongoing as authorities search for workers trapped under the debris. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
