This is the nerve-wracking moment a brave butcher wrestled with a python that was holding up traffic in Thailand.

The vendor was spotted attempting to capture the large reticulated python in the middle of the road at Khlong Toei Market in Bangkok on February 19.

Footage shows the snake attempting to slither away. However, the worker grasped its tail, immobilising it.

Moments later, a bystander used a wooden stick to help the man grab the neck of the serpent.

They eventually managed to catch the animal, and it was reportedly placed in a sack to be given to animal rescuers, who later released it back into the wild, away from the market and residential areas.

Pythons are nonvenomous constrictors that prey on rodents, birds, lizards, and mammals. They lack venomous fangs and consume their prey whole by swallowing them.
