Chinese jets clashed with Philippine planes flying over a disputed archipelago in the South China Sea.

Footage shows the Communist military forces warning the Philippine aircraft soaring over the contested Spratly Islands on February 20.

Air Force Colonel Tian Junli, spokesman for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theatre Command, said two other Philippine planes were driven away from the area.

He claimed the Philippines 'disregarded facts' and 'smeared China's legitimate and lawful actions' in the region.

The clash comes as the Philippines holds its third week of joint maritime activities with allied nations in the South China Sea.

Expansionist Red China currently lays claim over almost the entire maritime region, one of the world's busiest sea lanes. But a United Nations-backed tribunal in 2016 deemed its claims groundless.

The Communist rogue state - accused of genocide for its crimes against the Uyghur population - has been steadily increasing its influence in recent years through investment in developing countries.
