22/02/2025 - Rome, Italy. A marching band leads the demonstrators and the song ‘El pueblo unido jamás será vencido’ is played during the anti-fascist march to commemorate the death of Valerio Verbano.
After the morning tribute of some representatives of the institutions of the Roman municipalities with the presence of the Councilor for Culture of Rome Capital Massimiliano Smeriglio (near the commemorative plaque there was also a wreath dedicated by the Lazio Region), thousands of people took part in the annual anti-fascist march (and, this year, they also demonstrated against the security decree, DDL 1660 on public safety), which passed through the streets of the working-class neighborhoods of Tufello and Montesacro on the anniversary of the still unpunished murder of Valerio Verbano, militant of the Autonomia Operaia area, killed in 1980 at the age of 19 in his home by a neo-fascist commando.
