A stray kitten stuck in a car engine was rescued by paramedics in Thailand.

The owner of a white Honda Jazz heard the hapless black feline loudly meowing inside the vehicle's compartment after parking on the roadside in Phetchabun, Thailand, on February 23.

This prompted the concerned local to call for help to retrieve the furry creature from the four-wheeler.

Footage shows two officials lying on the road underneath the vehicle, extending their arms inside to reach the cat.

After minutes of laborious effort in locating the animal, they managed to gently pull it out of the car.

The kitten did not sustain any injuries from the incident.

The car owner said: 'We don't know if the cat belongs to someone else, but I don't want to leave her here, so I decided to adopt her.'
