This is the shocking moment a wheelchair user is sent flying by a speeding car as he uses a pedestrian crossing.

Dashcam footage shows the victim approaching the crossing in his electric wheelchair in Dmitrov, Moscow Oblast, Russia, on February 18.

A van is seen stopping for him in one lane, and he starts to ride across.

But as he gets halfway across, a taxi speeds through without halting, ploughing straight into the wheelchair.

As it hits, the PWD crashes into the taxi's front wing and bounces down the road while parts of the mobility chair break apart and fly off.

The cabbie, Mukhamadnazar Ayubov, 31, is seen pulling over and getting out of his car as the clip ends.

One eyewitness, named Andrei Epanchitsev, said: 'He fell and he must have hit his head.

'He got up, screamed, then fell again. People ran up too, dragged him from the roadway to the curb.'

Local media reports say the wheelchair user is recovering from fractures and bruising in hospital.

Police are investigating the collision.
