Massive junkyard fire caused by lithium-ion battery in Camden, New Jersey, USA
On February 22, 2025, in New Jersey, USA, @znimick1 A massive fire at a Camden junkyard was caused by a lithium-ion battery. In the video, thick black smoke was visible from afar as the fire was being controlled.
Reports stated the fire broke out at EMR Metal Recycling on February 21, growing to four alarms and requiring up to 20 fire companies. The blaze was brought under control by 2 a.m. on February 22 but continued to produce smoke in the morning.
EMR stated the battery was "wrongly delivered" and concealed in scrap metal. The company called for stricter regulations on lithium-ion batteries.
