What was supposed to be a regular night turned into something much more when Bill and his dogs heard a loud bang around 1:30 AM and spotted flames about 100 meters up the road.

"I ran out, barefoot, and followed the smoke to a bin shed where someone had set a bin on fire," Bill told WooGlobe. "The lid was melted, dripping everywhere by the time I got there. The metal was bubbling and extremely hot, but as a chef with experience handling fire, I thought I could put it out."

Bill borrowed his neighbor's watering can, filled it with water from their hose, and went to work.

"The amount of smoke was crazy," he added. "It was hard to breathe while running back and forth to refill the can. After about eight trips, I finally extinguished the flames."
