STORYLINE:
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting in Tashkent, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan reported Wednesday.
The heads of state expressed deep satisfaction with the two countries' dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation in recent years, according to the report.
"Active political contacts, fruitful interparliamentary and interdepartmental exchanges continue. In 2024, trade turnover exceeded 400 million dollars, and the number of joint ventures reached 130," the press service stated.
It was reported that during the talks, special attention was given to expanding trade and economic cooperation.
"The importance of taking coordinated measures to increase trade turnover to 2 billion dollars based on the adopted 'roadmap' was emphasized," the press service noted.
At the invitation of the Uzbek president, Sharif made an official visit to Uzbekistan from Feb. 25-26.
