A mother cat disappeared into a drain with her kitten.

The tuxedo mother feline was spotted dropping her offspring into the gutter in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on February 21.

Amusing footage shows the furry creature carrying the baby cat by biting its neck, seemingly searching for a place to hide.

She can be seen briefly circling around the cover before slipping the kitten through the gap in the drain before entering herself.

The filmer said: 'I thought the kitten had fallen deep down the drain, but the depth was actually quite shallow.'

It's a natural instinct for female cats to find a safe, hidden location to give birth and raise their kittens. This ensures a quiet and undisturbed environment for both the mother and her young.
