A hapless pet dog trapped under railway sleepers while playing was rescued in Thailand.

The four-year-old pooch named Coke was exploring the pile of railroad ties when he slipped through the gaps while trying to hide in Sa Kaeo, Thailand on February 24.

Coke tried to crawl out but the canine only fell through the narrow space even more.

The exhausted dog's owner Ekkarat Kongprem, 46, went looking for Coke when he failed to return for dinner and the rescue team was called to assist.

Footage shows Coke stuck in the space between the concrete ties. He was able to climb up when volunteers used power tools to cut the material and make space using a jack.

Pet owner Ekkarat said: 'I have four dogs. Coke might have been playing with his friends and hid inside to rest or hide.

'I was worried when he did not come home for dinner. I knew something was wrong then and called for help.'

Rescuer Boontham added: 'He could not move because the space was too tight. It was only three kilometres away from Aranyaprathet Railway Station.'

Coke was not seriously hurt but was tired and hungry. He was given a meal and taken home by Ekkarat.
