Driver runs over boy playing outside home then 'flees the scene'
A driver ran over a boy playing outside a home and then allegedly fled the scene.
The group of children were playing hopscotch when a white Honda drove over one of the kids sitting on the ground in Ghaziabad, India, on February 25 at 4 pm.
Shocking CCTV footage shows the vehicle ramming into the hapless child. Upon impact, he became wedged between the car and the pavement.
A quick-thinking resident rushed to help the boy and managed to pull him out from underneath the car's wheel, while his friends were seen signalling the driver to stop.
The woman stepped out of the vehicle and checked if the boy was okay, but instead of taking him to the hospital for a medical check-up, she drove away moments later as if nothing had happened.
The boy reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.
Local media reported that the suspect was a guest at the SG Grand Society in Rajendra Nagar Extension.
The incident was reported to the Nandgram Police Station.
However, during the investigation, police discovered that the admission registration records at the gate had been tampered with in an attempt to protect the suspect.
Residents have expressed concern over the lack of action taken by the police in response to the incident.
