STORYLINE:

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday called on Ghanaians to unite to "rebuild" a nation that benefits all citizens.
   
Mahama, in his maiden Message of the State of the Nation since returning to power last month, noted that with collective action, Ghanaians can resolve their challenges and rebuild the nation bequeathed to them by their forebears, allowing their aspirations to come to fruition.
   
Ghana's economy is riddled with crises and citizens are suffering unprecedented hardships, the president said, adding that the economic challenges are not insurmountable but present the government and everyone else with the opportunity to innovate and put their shoulders on the wheel of nation-building.
   
The president said Ghanaians gave him their massive support because they have confidence in his ability to solve their economic problems.

"There is strength in unity. Ghana's greatest strength lies in its people -- its young and energetic youth. If we stand united, we can be more resilient and build together the power of collective action to overcome economic and social challenges. Every Ghanaian, regardless of political affiliation, background, or status, has a responsibility to play a key role in nation-building and works towards a complete reset of our country."

The president assured Ghanaians that the government will leave no one behind in the efforts to rebuild the nation into "the Ghana we want."
   
After securing victory in last December's presidential election, Mahama was sworn into office in January.
