Taxi driver shakes his head as two British tourists have sex in the back seat
A shocked taxi driver shook his head as two British tourists began having sex on the back seat.
Khun Atiwat, 36, was driving the two holidaymakers to their hotel in his tuk-tuk when the woman in a floral dress straddled her partner.
Astonishing footage shows how they proceeded to have sex in full view of passing motorists in Phuket, Thailand, on Thursday evening.
Atiwat said he recorded the pair 'as evidence' before banging on the glass window to tell them to stop. He then pulled over and kicked them out, forcing them to walk back to their accommodation.
He said: 'I picked up the couple in front of the Royal Paradise Hotel in the Kathu district. They spoke English and I recognised the accent. They said they were from the UK.
‘They were friendly and they asked to be taken to Karon Hill Hotel, but after they sat in the vehicle, they started having sex.
'They were doing it for about 30 seconds before I noticed and started recording. I was shocked to see someone actually doing that, so I wanetd to record it as evidence.
‘I knocked on the window to warn them, but they didn't listen. I did not drop them off at the hotel and instead told them to walk because they were so disrespectful.
‘I also didn't take their money because they didn't pay the agreed fare, so I returned it to them. I scolded both of them, telling them that their behaviour was inappropriate and that they shouldn't do it again.'
Atiwat said he had not made a police complaint but would cooperate if they contacted him. He said he wanted the video to be a warning for other drivers who collect tourists.
The driver added: 'I don't want the couple to get in trouble and I don't think the police would be able to do much. But I just want them to know that what they are doing is not acceptable. They wouldn't do it in their own country so why do they think it's OK to do it here? Families and children can see them.'
Under Thai law, the tourists could fined up to 5,000 Baht (116.34 GBP) each for alleged public indecency.
However, police have been struggling to cope with the sheer number of complaints as misbehaving holidaymakers flood the once idyllic island, which has become a popular destination since the pandemic for Brits, Australians, Russians, Indians and Middle Eastern holidaymakers.
Some have even likened the tropical destination to a 'Benidorm on acid', with legal cannabis widely available, licensing laws routinely flouted and cut-price sex workers available around the clock.
In February last year, several British tourists were questioned by police when a sex party with five transgender escorts erupted into a mass brawl that neighbours likened to 'World War Three'.
Shocking footage showed naked sex workers running into the street as the two groups hurled glasses and garden pots at each other over the garden wall. Inside the property, broken glass littered the floor and blood was splattered across the walls among empty bottles and cigarettes.
Just two months later in April 2024 alone, four couples were seen romping on different beaches on the island. While in July, three men were filmed engaging in a threesome on Patong Beach.
On November 25, a blonde woman and her partner were seen having sex on the sand, just yards away from onlookers at Kata Beach.
Speaking about the latest incident, Police Captain Surasak Sudmuang said: 'There has been no complaints filed about the couple having sex in the taxi. If a report is made, we will investigate it and question the people involved for their version of the events in the video before we make a decision if there is a crime.'
