Child topples from the back of motorcycle in rush hour traffic
This is the shocking moment a child toppled from the back of a motorcycle negotiating rush hour traffic.
The youngster was seated on the very back of the overloaded vehicle with three people when they switched lanes in Bangkok, Thailand on February 26.
Dashcam footage shows the schoolboy plunging from the back of the two-wheeler when it swerved right.
He was wearing a helmet and a backpack so his face was spared from hitting the concrete when he rolled over.
The kid's family immediately stopped when they realised he had fallen and pulled over to the side to rush onto him.
Driver Achiraya Eksamanon, who was behind the motorcycle when the kid fell, said: 'I felt so sorry for the child. The fall looked very painful.
'It was fortunate that he was wearing a helmet or he would have smashed his head on the ground.'
The traffic was slow so Achiraya who was behind could stop before hitting the boy.
He scrambled to stand up but his legs appeared to be hurt before reaching his family.
They checked on him on the side of the road. He did not appear to have serious injuries as he could still walk.
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
