Power bank explodes in office worker's face
This is the shocking moment a power bank exploded in an office worker's face.
Ms Xie was working on her computer when the device suddenly exploded in front of her in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, on the afternoon of February 21.
CCTV footage shows the woman browsing on her laptop when the backup battery on top of her computer caught fire, burning her face and clothes.
Her colleague, visibly shocked, can be seen immediately standing up to aid her.
She reportedly called 911 to report the incident after what happened. Police arrived to assess the situation, and she was then sent to the hospital for treatment.
Local media reported that the victim's eyelashes, hair, and the left side of her cheek were burned, and her clothes were left with a large hole.
Medics confirmed that she sustained second-degree burns on her head, face, and neck and reportedly had to stay in the hospital for several hours before being able to return home to recover.
Ms Xie said: 'I just put my phone here, and all of a sudden, it exploded like this, and then I flew backwards. I was shocked—I didn't expect this kind of thing to happen to me.
'When I saw the flames of light, it made me feel like I was almost dead. It was a very traumatising event, and every time I remember it, I get emotional.'
She explained that she bought the product in Taiwan for only TWD 1,550 (approximately 37.39 GBP).
'I didn't buy it in China, so I didn't expect Taiwanese products to have this kind of problem,' she added.
