China's annual sessions of the top legislature and national political advisory body, known as the "two sessions," are set to convene in Beijing next week, drawing attention from both home and abroad.

A Turkish expert highlights the significance of this key political event, emphasizing its role in shaping China's development and its importance to global progress.

SOUNDBITE (English): SELCUK COLAKOGLU, Director of Ankara-based Turkish Center for Asia-Pacific Studies
"Every year, (China's) 'two sessions' are very important not only nationally but also internationally. The international community closely watches the 'two sessions' outcomes.
In recent years, China is increasingly underlining the importance of high-quality development, high-tech and also artificial intelligence development. So, here the major outcomes will be regarding China's development and how China can handle more high-quality developments.
The other thing is how China will handle global issues. In recent years, China proposed the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative. So here, China has comprehensive and common development, not only for China but also for the international community.
China, particularly, is the leading country in poverty alleviation, and now is a good model having best practices for sharing with the other developing Global South countries. We can see that for the national economy, and also the world economy, the 'two sessions' will put more specific strategies and roadmaps for the Chinese people and also for the international community. Therefore there are very high expectations for this year."
