STORYLINE:

German pharmaceutical and agribusiness giant Bayer's new crop science facility has been operational since January in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

The facility manufactures agrochemical products not only for the Chinese market, but also the rest of Asia, North America, and Latin America.

A senior executive from Bayer highlighted China's critical role in the global supply chain and the continuous benefits Bayer has gained from the Chinese market over the past years.

"In China, the market is huge. This is one of the most important global markets in the CP (crop protection) industry. The supply chain in China can cover most of the area. We can get the resources easily.
In China, we not only get the business growth from the Chinese market, (but) we also get a lot of benefits. We get more and more cooperation with local companies and local institutes to get more innovative solutions and products."
