seconds before the central Sumatra highway collapsed
The Central Sumatra Highway near the border area between Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province and Muaro Bungo Jambi, collapsed on Sunday, March 2, 2025 afternoon. This condition not only disrupts transportation between the two provinces, but also disrupts transportation to and from Java Island.
The collapsed road itself is not far from the border between Dharmasraya Regency and Jujuhan District, Bungo Regency, Jambi.
Head of Traffic Unit of Bungo Police, AKP Edo Yudha said that the landslide occurred at kilometer 58 of Jujuhan District.
Heavy rain that has poured on the location since Saturday (1/3/2025) night is suspected to be the cause of this disaster.
The collapse of the road disrupted the Central Sumatra Highway which is used to travel from Aceh to Java Island. Long traffic jams occurred in both directions.
