A pregnant student gave birth while taking an exam to become a teacher in India.

Priyanka Chaudhary unexpectedly went into labour while sitting for the REET (Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers) 2024 test in the Tonk district of Rajasthan on February 27.

She was attending the examination at Government Higher Secondary School when she suddenly felt labour pains.

The exam superintendent promptly assisted Priyanka, and she was swiftly transported to Saadat Hospital.

There, she successfully gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Jeetram Chaudhary, Priyanka's husband, expressed his surprise and joy at the unexpected turn of events.

He said: 'We never anticipated our daughter's arrival during the exam; we had solely come to take the test.'

He further reflected on the coincidence of his daughter's birth, likening it to the blessing of the Indian goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi.

However, he said that Priyanka was disappointed that she could not complete her exam due to unforeseen circumstances.

Both mother and baby are reported to be in good health and are currently recovering in the hospital's maternity department, as confirmed by the administration.

The exam had a significant number of applicants, with over 1.4 million candidates registered across the state. It was conducted at 1,731 locations throughout Rajasthan on February 27 and 28.
