On 2 March, in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, a baby was playing alone on a bed when a ceiling light cover suddenly fell, landing right next to them. The terrifying moment was captured by the home’s surveillance camera.

According to the baby’s father, Mr. Jing, he had briefly stepped away to use the bathroom, leaving the child playing on the bed. The baby had a balloon tied to their foot and was excitedly kicking it. Unexpectedly, as the balloon floated upwards, it bumped into the ceiling light cover, causing it to dislodge and fall instantly—narrowly missing the child.

Mr. Jing stated that fortunately, the baby’s legs were curled up at the time, avoiding a potential disaster. He suspects that the light cover was either not securely fixed or had a manufacturing defect. The fixture has since been replaced.
