This is the shocking moment a barge crashed into a bridge on a river in Indonesia.

The BG Lius Emas, towed by the tugboat TB L. Fortuna, struck the steel road bridge on the Kayan River in Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, on March 1 afternoon.

Footage shows metal platforms from the structure collapsing into the water upon impact.

No injuries were reported. Police are currently investigating the incident.

Police Inspector Magdalena Lawai said: 'The barge, which departed from the city of Ampana, Central Sulawesi, was heading to Antutan, Bulungan Regency, to load coal.

'We have coordinated with the transportation department and the National Road Agency, as the bridge sustained damage to its underside, posing a danger to motorists on two- and four-wheeled vehicles.'
