This is the dramatic moment residents rescued a boy from a 12ft deep well in China.

The child reportedly fell into the pit in Heze, Shandong, on January 3, prompting locals and patrons of a nearby restaurant to rush to his aid after hearing his cries.

Footage shows men hoisting the boy along with one of the rescuers out of the narrow pit.

After successfully pulling the soaking-wet child to safety, his mother, waiting at the surface, hugged him tightly.

Fortunately, the boy did not sustain any serious injuries.

As a gesture of gratitude, the restaurant owner reportedly waived the bills of those who helped in the rescue.
