This is the shocking moment a light cover fell from the ceiling - narrowly missing a baby playing on the bed.

Xiao Jinghe, the one-month-old toddler, was lying on the mattress with a smiley balloon tied to his toes in Shaanxi, China, on March 2.

CCTV footage shows the infant kicking his feet, sending the balloon floating toward the ceiling.

The inflatable bumped into the fluorescent light cover, causing it to dislodge and drop onto the mattress foam, narrowly missing the baby's foot.

The loud impact alerted the father, who rushed into the room to check on his child.

The child's mother, who had been away for two hours, criticised her husband for his negligence.

The father said: ‘I am committed to daily self-improvement and thank those who expressed concern. I will make sure incidents like this never put my child in danger again.'
