A train almost hit a bus when the reckless driver headed onto the tracks as a barrier came down.

The white public vehicle navigated the snow-covered motorway just as the boom gate was lowered, signalling an approaching locomotive between Yantal and Lena stations in Irkutsk, Russia, on February 28.

Shocking footage shows the four-wheeler stopping at the gate despite the station operator saying: 'Attention! Train approaching! Leave the crossing area!'

It became stuck on the road just next to the railway, unable to drive through because of the barricade.

Moments later, the light from the train became visible as it approached the area.

Upon seeing this, frantic passengers stepped out of the bus as the train passed, running away from the vehicle.

Fortunately, the train missed the motorcoach by inches, bringing a sigh of relief to the driver and the passengers.

No injuries were reported from the incident. Authorities are investigating what happened.
