A quick-thinking driver made a fast escape as a roof collapsed under the weight of snow.

The local stepped inside his white hatchback just seconds before the overhead structure gave way in Zhejiang, China, on March 4.

CCTV footage shows the vehicle driving out of the shed while a woman stands outside. Upon realising that the roof was about to cave in, she quickly ran inside to safety.

In another clip, residents can be seen dismantling the damaged structure by removing the screws and poles to build a new roof.

The filmer said: 'The roof didn't have much support in the middle, which is why it caved in.'

Some regions in the country have been experiencing continuous snowfall, with accumulated snow blanketing houses and posing safety risks for residents.
