New footage shows aftermath of a shocking incident that saw a car driven into a crowd in Germany - killing two and injuring 11 others.

The black car ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians in the city of Mannheim, Germany, yesterday (03/03) - a day after the city celebrated the start of carnival.

One eyewitness - who does not want to be named - said it was a "normal" and "quiet" day until the vehicle drove down a pedestrianised road, hitting people, in the heart of the city."

The eyewitness quickly ran into a shop when she saw the car speeding down the street and waited inside until police arrived.

They said they were "shocked" and "terrified" to see so many people lying around on the floor injured, outside of the shop."

Two people have been killed and 11 others were injured.

The witness said: "It was very unexpected to see the car coming down the road."

"I turned around and saw the car approaching so fast, I ran inside the shop, and while I was in there I heard people screaming."

"I was in the shop for around 10 minutes, when I went outside, I saw the aftermath of people on the floor."

"I was in shock, it was terrifying - I saw people on the floor not making a sound."

"I was in so much shock I nearly vomited - I didn't expect to see so many people lying down."
