US: Golden Eagle Soars Free After Miracle Rehab Triumph
United States - March 04, 2025 Taylor Canyon, Colorado – A majestic golden eagle has taken flight once again, soaring into the wild last week after a grueling eight months of rehab that’s left wildlife lovers cheering. Officer Codi Prior scooped up the battered bird not far from where it was first found injured and set it free, its massive wingspan a sight to behold as it vanished from view. Back in June, this regal hunter was struck down by a car in Taylor Canyon, leaving it with a wing injury that demanded urgent repair. Wildlife officer Codi Prior rushed to the rescue, whisking the eagle to Frisco Creek where facility manager Michael Sirochman took charge. Under his care, the bird was fed and allowed to slowly recover until it could flap those mighty wings again. Once it could fly, the eagle got regular exercise in a flight cage—last summer it even shared the space with a hawk—building strength and stamina for its grand return. Golden eagles are incredible hunters, capable of taking down ungulates and bighorn sheep, and this one’s now back where it belongs. Watch as the eagle disappears from our view, a breathtaking moment that CPW SW Region hails as the best reward. There’s nothing better than watching them fly away, and the team wishes it luck—stay away from highways! Thanks to everyone involved in the rehab of this incredible bird.
