An elusive frog managed to escape the jaws of a parrot snake by submerging itself in a shallow puddle.

Márcia Neves was filming in Saquarema, Brazil, as the serpent manages to clamp down on one of the frog's rear legs. After a brief struggle, the amphibian wriggles free as swims away before concealing itself at the bottom of the body of water.

The next minutes of the clip show the snake frantically searching for its escaped prey that is seen hiding just inches below it.

The amphibian remains submerged in the water for a long time to evade the snake.

This snake hunt took place at the Véu da Noiva Waterfall in the Serra do Roncador, on the Sítio Gratidão ao Pai property.
