This is the incredible moment a farmer was caught in a mini tornado as it lifted hay into the sky.

Ja had just finished piling dried grass in his field when a sudden wind vortex sent the forage swirling into the air in Udon Thani, Thailand, on February 26.

Footage shows the harmless dust devil forming in the open, causing hay straws to hover and spiral mid-air.

He can be seen walking toward the whirlwind and playfully tossing his towel into it, watching as it spins around the vortex.

The hay scattered in all directions, forming circles as it spun in the air.

Ja said: 'It felt so good to feel like a child again. After all the work I did that day, this moment helped me relax. I felt the power of nature.'

Dust devil tornadoes are types of whirlwinds that form when the sun heats a patch of land, and the air above becomes warmer and rises quickly.

Cooler air then moves into the low-pressure gap left by the rising warm air. The new drafts of cooler air also heat up and rise and the cycle continues, picking up dust and debris and making the spiral visible.

They are not as dangerous as supercell tornadoes, which can cause severe damage.
