Palestinians in Gaza are grappling with persistent displacement and increasingly dire living conditions after Israel closed border crossings and blocked humanitarian aid from reaching the war-torn Palestinian enclave earlier this month. On March 2, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced the suspension of "all goods and supplies" from entering the Gaza Strip, aiming to pressure Hamas into accepting terms for a new ceasefire. In the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, families have gradually returned following the Jan 19 ceasefire and begun setting up tents in the Al-Mawasi area. For many, the trauma of displacement is not just a recent ordeal but a decades-long struggle. Hussam Abu Shawarib, a father of seven, has returned to what was once a place called home, only to be confronted with the stark reality of destruction. The scene serves as a grim reminder of their early days of displacement, a period when they feared an all-out war would erupt. The cessation of humanitarian aid to Gaza has raised alarm among international organizations. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has warned of severe consequences for Gaza's children and families, who are already struggling to survive. Even before the aid cuts, humanitarian relief reaching Gaza was insufficient to meet basic needs. Its complete halt has led to a serious deterioration in food security, further compounding an already fragile situation. Since a Hamas-Israel ceasefire took effect on January 19, 7,000 aid trucks have entered the Strip trough Egyptian crossings with Israel and Gaza, carrying a total of 130,000 tonnes of supplies and 20,000 tents, according to Egypt's press center. As Palestinian displacement continues, there are renewed fears that a famine could hit the Gaza Strip if crossings remain closed and humanitarian aid fails to reach those in need. Concerns are also mounting that the ceasefire may not hold for much longer. Shotlist: Khan Younis, Gaza Strip - Recent: 1. Various of tents for displaced Palestinians; 2. We returned to Rafah but were prevented from entering 70 percent of the area. We started asking before we went anywhere else, if it was allowed or not. We had a state of imbalance and insecurity, so we were forced to return to Khan Younis."; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 4. Tent; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 5. The humanitarian crisis inside Gaza has continued, despite the ceasefire taking effect on January 19, and families are in need of literally everything. So, the consequences of the aid stopping will be devastating, especially for children."; 9. Various of tents, displaced Palestinian family; 10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Hayat Abu Sitta, displaced Palestinian (partially overlaid with shot 11): "We have been afraid ever since the crossing was closed. I want to provide food for my children, so I have started looking for rice, sugar and flour. Prices have now doubled. We are relying on food aid, and it is difficult for us to lose access to it. We are afraid that we will reach the stage of hunger, and our children will be deprived of food."; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 11. Displaced Palestinian children; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 12.
