Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar emphasized the involvement of China in global discussions on peace and security. Slovenia and China established diplomatic relation in 1992 and have maintained friendly ties, according to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two countries signed in 2017 a memorandum of understanding on jointly promoting the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
