Floods forced mass evacuations as homes remained submerged and at least 10 people died in Argentina.

Footage shows ankle-deep deluge swamping a property while howling winds blew outside in the port city of Bahia Blanca on March 7.

Resident Melina Liverotti said nonstop rain in the area caused water to reach inside homes.

More than 1,000 individuals had to be evacuated as the municipality recorded more than 300mm of rainfall.

The storm that has left ten dead so far started in the port city of Bahia Blanca in the early hours of Friday, 600km from Buenos Aires.

Damages to bridges and roads have also been reported to have collapsed as well as hospitals and other buildings.

Bahia Blanca authorities said: 'All available resources are being deployed with municipal teams, the provincial government, the navy and the Argentine army to provide assistance.'
