Police caught a green snake hiding in a housewife's kitchen in Thailand.

Police Sergeant Major Chaturapong and Police Sergeant Major Phuriwat responded to a report about the reptile lurking on the wall of a house in the capital Bangkok, on March 5.

The pair drove to the scene and found the 3ft creature resting near the windows of the kitchen.

Footage shows the snake dropping to floor and slithering behind a water storage barrel before the officers pinned it down with a mop. They then put it inside a plastic bag to be released into the wild.

Police Sergeant Major Chaturapong said: 'The snake wasn't too dangerous because it was fairly small and non-venomous. We easily caught it because there were few places to hide in the kitchen.'

Green snakes fall under the genus Opheodrys, and are non-venomous colubrid snakes. Their scales are bright green to help them blend into vegetation.
