In March 2020 the world went into lockdown as the coronavirus spread globally.

Fear set in and masks were issued.

City centres became ghost-towns with only ‘Key Workers’ being able to go outside and lead an as normal life as possible.

Three large marquees were set up together with heavy duty generators at a makeshift mortuary in Hanger 2 at Birmingham Airport to cope with additional deaths throughout the pandemic.

Shops closed even before the official lockdown came into place as worries grew that staff may Cath the deadly virus from customers.

The streets were almost deserted, even in the city centre. Roads were empty of life and the small amount of pedestrians out were correctly social distancing. One man walked down a deserted New Street with 2 full bags of shopping in what would usually be one of Birmingham’s busiest high streets.

Later the Government launched ‘Clap for the NHS’ where people would stand outside their houses and clap for those working in healthcare.

West Midlands Police West Midlands Police and Fire came out in force to show their appreciation for the NHS at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, they surrounded A&E and clapped for all who worked at the hospital, then as they were leaving all emergency vehicles sirens were turned on, blazingly echoing around the community, in a show of force and support.
